Based on the account plan you chose, Sterling offers a variety of services that most other health services administrators don't offer. Because our employees have years of experience in the health insurance industry, we provide an unparalleled level of expertise.

  • Explanation of Benefit (EOB) Review & Bill Paying – Expert review of your EOB and payment of HSA qualified healthcare bills to your providers with your prior approval. We can also reimburse you directly.
  • Carrier integration for auto disbursement - accountholders can connect their health plan explanation of benefits (EOBs) with their HSA account for an online, single-source view of medical claims and to make payments or reimburse themselves using funds available in their account. The service also allows accountholders to link to a dependent’s EOB information (within HIPAA requirements) and electronically keep records of receipts and other documentation related to medical claims, payments and reimbursements. All information is stored in an encrypted, secure database following HIPAA guidelines.
It’s easy to set-up the carrier integration service. When accountholders log into their HSA account, they’ll see a menu option “Connect to My Health Plan”. Simply follow the steps to link the health plan account to the Sterling account by entering the health plan account login information (note that the health plan login and the Sterling login are not the same). Once the accountholder gets verification that the connection is established, they can start using the service. It’s that easy.
  • Debit Cards – Sterling accountholders can request a debit MasterCard® for easy, secure and convenient access to funds in their HSA. Cards for dependents authorized to use the HSA funds are also available. For more information, go to Debit Cards & Disbursements.
  • Account Statements – Quarterly statements for HSA accountholders and employers (if they contribute to the account) are available online for the most up-to-date information anytime it’s needed.
  • IRS Record Keeping – In the event that you are audited by the IRS, Sterling can reproduce records of account deposits and disbursements to verify that funds were used for IRS qualified medical expenses. We also notify accountholders if deposits exceed the maximum amount allowed by law or if manual distributions don't meet the IRS definition of qualified medical expenses.
  • Online Banking – Available to all accountholders who have registered for online access to their account. With online banking and account access, you can make deposits and take disbursements through our eChecking service. Other features include the ability to review account information, update personal information, calculate contribution amounts and many other online tools.
  • Mobile Access – lets you view account information, make contributions, make disbursements, view the most recent contributions and disbursements and upload photos of receipts.
